Branching DC Urban Forestry is a comprehensive six-week workforce development program designed to prepare DC area residents for careers in urban forestry, landscaping, environmental stewardship, and sustainable green infrastructure. Participants gain hands-on, in-field experience while developing the technical knowledge and professional skills needed to succeed in the growing green workforce.

  • Urban forestry and tree care fundamentals

  • Basic tree planting, pruning, and maintenance

  • Urban forestry principles and best practices

  • Food forest planning and maintenance

  • Environmental stewardship and sustainability practices

  • Networking opportunities with green industry professionals

  • Native plants and pollinator-friendly landscapes

  • Tool safety and proper equipment use

  • OSHA-10 certification
