Living Classrooms’ Early Childhood Center at Fayette works with Y in Central Maryland to provide children ages 3-5 a high quality early childhood education experience. The goal is to ensure that every child is ready for kindergarten and ready to learn.

The Y Head Start Baltimore City curriculum provides a developmentally appropriate program that promotes children’s socio-emotional development and learning in the core areas of: literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies to support the school readiness indicators identified by the Maryland Model for School Readiness. The program also promotes health and wellness through the development of the motor system and by laying the foundation for a positive attitude about physical activity. Through the use of movement experiences, educators can stimulate problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and reinforce a variety of academic concepts.

By working together, the early childhood centers in the TIZ are giving families access to an array of needed services and ensuring that more families have access to high-quality early childhood education programs; thereby promoting academic success and helping both students and families reach their potential.
