Target Investment Zone

Our Baltimore Target Investment Zone (TIZ) is Living Classrooms' comprehensive community development strategy aimed at creating a cradle-through-college/career pipeline and disrupting the cycles of generational poverty in East Baltimore. The TIZ serves some of Baltimore's most under-resourced areas, including the Fayette Street corridor, Perkins Community, Douglass, and Latrobe Homes; Oldtown/Middle East, McElderry Park, and neighborhoods around Hopkins Medical Campus and Patterson Park (a 4.6 square mile area with over 40,000 residents). Within the TIZ, Living Classrooms operates two Community Hubs, the UA House at Fayette and the POWER House in Perkins Homes, which provide a broad range of free education, workforce development, and health and wellness programs for our community members.
