YouthWorks Teens Employed with Living Classrooms’ Summer Camp

July 31, 2020

Some cities have canceled their summer job programs, but Baltimore has re-imagined the YouthWorks program to fit the current pandemic, with most youth being assigned to work remotely. Living Classrooms remains committed to providing this valuable experience for teens each year and has hired ten Youthworkers, ages 14-17, to support our virtual summer camp while exploring career paths and learning important life skills.

In the mornings, Youthworkers participate in Career Choices and Changes curriculum that helps the students identify their personal goals and teaches the skills needed to achieve them as they begin to think about future career goals. They also participate in group discussions, including sessions with guest speakers, and begin to build their individualized job portfolios. In the afternoons, the teens join Living Classrooms’ Virtual Summer Camp sessions to assist educators in facilitating the technical aspects of the online enrichment sessions, answer student questions, and ensure that the experience is seamless for the campers.
