1. A donation to LCNCR will provide underserved youth in DC a hands-on, educational program aboard historic ships 2. We assist older youth too. Our Fresh Start program serves out-of-school youth referred to us by the Department of Juvenile Services and teaches job skills 3. Our students are impressive! LCNCR’s Fresh Start Robotics Team placed 7th among the top 50 schools in the region at the Fresh T.E.C.H.s tournament 4. We win awards too. We were named one of the Top 10 organizations nationwide providing Promising and Effective Practices for Youth 5. Six words: Kingman Island Bluegrass and Folk Festival. This annual festival made the Washington Post Going Out Guide and is a great celebration of the island we manage on the Anacostia River 6. Did we mention we love learning? Our motto is ‘learning by doing’ 7. Girls in the DC area can participate in our E-STEM Academy. Female professionals in the STEM field serve as mentors for our scholars as they participate in field trips, interactive lessons, and workshops that explore the many opportunities available in STEM-related careers 8. Our programming at Camp Fraser offers adventure and ropes course programs, teambuilding and nature lessons to summer camps and school groups 9. Fly Fishing and Environmental Ambassadors. These are two of our programs that allow city youth to do something many of them never get a chance to do: explore and connect with our natural world 10. A little goes a long way. Any dollar amount helps us continue our work in Washington DC
