‘Inspired to Serve’ Interns Support Living Classrooms Virtually This Summer

July 31, 2020

On July 20th we officially welcomed ten students to the Inspired to Serve Summer Internship program. Now in its fifth year, Inspired to Serve is a student leadership and service learning program operated by Living Classrooms in partnership with the Karma for Cara Foundation. Each intern is placed into a role with a Living Classrooms program that matches their specific interests, goals, and experience.

Over the course of six weeks, the college interns will contribute 100 hours of service, develop mentor relationships with their supervisors, and plan a capstone project to give their service a lasting impact. With many programs adapting to virtual operations, this summer’s interns will play an important role in supporting new forms of distance education, conducting community research projects, assisting with program administration, and planning for fall activities and events. This summer’s interns are serving with Friends of Fort McHenry, Historic Ships in Baltimore, Baltimore’s virtual summer camp, BUGS summer camp, Fresh Start, and Living Classrooms’ social- emotional wellness programming.
