Baltimore to Celebrate Bicentennial of Star Spangled Banner

Baltimore, MD- Be a part of history with Living Classrooms Foundation and Friends of Fort McHenry as we help Baltimore celebrate the 200th anniversary of our National Anthem. Star-Spangled Spectacular is a weeklong series of events from September 8-16th and a unique opportunity to connect people nationwide to this defining moment in America’s fight for independence, the War of 1812. Tall ships, Navy ships and the Blue Angels will come to Baltimore’s famed Inner Harbor. Landside festivals include living history demonstrations, a family fun zone, live musical performances, and Chesapeake food and beverage. Events crescendo on September 13 with two star-studded patriotic concerts and extraordinary fireworks display over Fort McHenry and the Baltimore harbor. Learn more about the week’s events at Volunteers are also needed as part of the Star Spangled Spectacular, from September 8th-16th, at both Fort McHenry and in the Inner Harbor to help with a wide variety of events. At the Fort volunteers welcome and direct guests, help with the grounds crew, and much more. At the Inner Harbor, volunteers will help with merchandise sales that will benefit Living Classrooms. Volunteering with the Spectacular is a chance to have a front-row view of all of the amazing events happening in the city – fireworks, Blue Angels air show, tall ships, and festival villages.
